Rising From The Ashes

A Dragon Doing The Dance Of The Phoenix

“When I get to the bottom I go back to the top of the slide
Where I stop and turn and I go for a ride
Till I get to the bottom and I see you again
Yeah, yeah, yeah

From Helter Skelter by The Beatles

Helter Skelter is one of my theme songs, and also the theme of the Phoenix – the great mythical bird that performs the dance of ascension, perfection, destruction and re-birth – the dance of immolation and resurrection.

Those who get to know me, know I do the dance of the Phoenix over and over again as part of my travels to Hades and back, along dark tunnels, with a multitude of mirror-shards protruding from the walls and only fire and brimstone to quench my thirst.

The True Phoenix

The true Phoenix is a wondrous creature of such benevolence and majesty that you can not help but feel as if you are in the presence of an ancient emperor. Indeed, every Phoenix reigns over it’s own worldly kingdom.

Dragons, like myself, consider them great beyond great, and practice the Phoenix’s dance so we can gain it’s wisdom.

During the long life of the Phoenix it builds a nest of great riches, fine spices and priceless jewels, and there it produces the Egg of Empires.

When the age of it’s own Empire reach it’s peak, a slow fire begins in the nest and soon becomes the earthly vision of the great eternal flame. At this moment the Phoenix performs his great dance one last time, rising to the Sun and then diving back down into the nest of flames, bringing it’s current world Empire with it, only to rise again in re-birth when it’s egg hatches, producing it’s next worldly Empire.

According to custom the new-born Phoenix always returns to Egypt, to a sacred temple in Heliopolis and there it nourishes itself on the ashes of the nest of departed Phoenix until the Creator establishes the young Phoenix in a new land with a new tribe.

The Phoenix Crown

If you do the dance of the Phoenix enough times, with it’s endless cycles of suffering, you’ll find you are repeatedly offered a chance to transcend, and to become more than you could have been without the suffering. It is then you find that all your suffering is producing beautiful pearls.

I didn’t really understand why this was way that pearls are made until I had already traveled many time to Hades and back myself.

Of course, truly understanding this doesn’t end the suffering, it just changes the knowledge into a crown, like the one illustrated below:

Crowns are like merit badges for mystics…
