Asking For Questions

I’m getting ready for the next phase of The MMJ Project, part of which is a series of videos I’m going to be putting together this year.

The series is (tentatively) going to be called The Herb Report From The MMJ Project.

As many of you know, I’ve been involved with medical marijuana for quite a while, both as a patient and as a volunteer for a local Long Beach collective.

I’ve been taking photos of the herb for over a year and a half, and during that time I have looked at and handled (gently), smelled and smoked over 150 different strains.

One of my early goal of The MMJ Project was to participate, as a volunteer, in the forming of a real non-profit collective. I accomplished that goal this year when AAC – Apothecary’s Assistants Collective opened in Signal Hill at the end of March.

Since March we’ve had to battle city hall, relocate the collective to Long Beach, and experienced a number of hardships and miracles, met some really cool people and also learned some harsh realities about the nature of people…

At the end of 2009 a couple of my friends informed me (happily) that they had finally gotten their MMJ recommendation and were ready to plunge into the mysterious and often, confusing, world of medical marijuana.

This got me thinking… how hard would it be to put together a little series of videos, about 3 – 5 minutes each, that explained the various basics of the medical marijuana world?

Even though I’m not an expert, I do know a lot about the herb and the medical marijuana (MMJ) world… I could probably answer some of the general questions a person who is new to this world might have.

As an artist I am taking a step this year towards using audio and video in my work, and I’ve been thinking for days about how I want to enter this realm. This series is going to be my video playground to try out some ideas I’ve had for a while. I invite you to come on this little journey with me…

How you can help – Send me your questions about medical marijuana, collectives, being a MMJ patient, different strains, my experiences with the herb, etc.

No question is too basic and you can choose whether you would like me to use your name in the videos…

Just use the form below and send them to me and I’ll choose as many as I can to put in my series.

Questions sent so far:

1. Tania – if everyone who smoked marijuana would “come out of the closet” do you think it would normalize and integrate the pot-smoking culture into the mainstream?

2. Barbara – What medical conditions are authorized for MMJ? and added in the comments area… What are the reasons you are certified? I did not know there were any psych reasons for it. Just curious.

Thank you for the questions!
